The combat could use some love, as well as the loot that drops from these combat encounters. Armour and weapons should feel more interesting to find, and the balance needs a fair bit of work to not feel jarring.
Core keeper is a game that will get you easily hooked in its first 5 hours. The survival game loop, combined with concepts like automation and a formula that resembles terraria might set you up to expect interesting progression.

And while bosses amp up the challenge, the crafting-focused sandbox design is suitable for people who are less interested in hardcore fighting and more interested in base-building. Permanent max health foods have also been omitted. They are rare to find optional extras that will help make a playthrough easier by slightly increasing a character's base health.
Plant some seeds and glowing flowers grow, illuminating everything around them. (Munch on a glowing flower and your character will glow for a few minutes, too.) Even in the darkest places, lightning bugs circle in packs, hidden ore deposits glitter in the gloom, even the slime trails of disgusting Core Keeper Gameplay monsters give off a welcome bit of illumination.

Boss fights range from fairly easy to pretty difficult. I haven't done all of them yet, but my impression is that all can be defeated solo. However, for some of them you may need to wait for specific items to drop, and their drop rate is very very low.
